This summer was spent in a garden and not in a cinema, so sadly I saw none of the films I intended to. But perhaps you can help me.

Take a look at the films below (yes, some of these films are more than a year old already) and if, unlike me, you were lucky enough to see them, perhaps you'd like to blog me your comments.

Thelma and Louise Presentation

This film was made in 1989 and is a fictional account of two women, a waitress and a housewife, who lead somewhat unhappy lives in Texas, southern US. They go away for the weekend together and get into a lot of trouble - one is nearly raped which leads to a killing and they become criminals and outlaws. They are chased across the state by the police and FBI and the film ends with a dramatic climax.

This film is interesting from a feminist perspective. The two women are constantly abused by the men in they encounter - Thelma`s husband, their employees, men they encounter in bars, the police and so on. What is surprising is that the film was made by a man, Ridley Scott.

It is also interesting in terms of genre because it is a road movie, a genre traditionally focussing on male friends on a trip. This is in fact one of the first (if not only) feminist road movies ever made.
